iTunes 8.1

Post by Tritonemusic »

Has anyone updated to iTunes 8.1? I'd like to know whether or not you're having trouble with it. I haven't installed it yet.

I've found it to be a bit buggy. My biggest annoyance is the way it handles podcasts. A click on the podcast "quicklink" arrow either leads you to the home page of the podcast, or a blank search field within the iTunes store. It also crashed on me the other night, something that has never happened to me before. A quick perusal of the Apple discussions confirms this podcast bug on a variety of systems. It may be a problem with the iTunes store, but it never happened before updating.

Other reports claim that it is (I kid not) snappier. I haven't noticed much of a speed improvement on my relatively small (30G) library. YMMV.

Thanks for the reply. Since I'm not having any problems with the previous version, I think I'll hold off for a while. According to the update notes, it is supposed to be a lot more efficient (see, I didn't say snappier...doh!).

I've been getting a few crashes. Usually when streaming audio on an internet station quits, (although transport button says it's still playing) and I try to change selection.

Since the update on FrontRow, lots of repairs to permissions on it are required. Not sure if that's related to iTunes problems.

Update 8.1.1 is now available. Just downloaded it, so don't know yet if it fixed the bugs.
