Possible Crash Cause Dp6.01 Mach5 2.02

Post by the_guild »

Seasons Greetings Folks:

I was having a ton of problems with Dp and mach 5...but found the crashes always were always happening in the same "step" of my usual process of making a song. From using Dp I'm really used to "clicking and holding" on a function box (i.e. the "no preset" menu in mach5) in order to open it.By doing this in Mach5,while in stand-alone or MAS (AU?) mode it causes Mach5 or Mach5/Dp to crash.

By simply quickly double-clicking in Mach5 boxes I've had no crashes all day today.(About 8 hours messing around..lots of large samples, screen savers coming on,sugared crazed ADD ridden room-mates pounding on v-drums while making changes...no crashes...touch wood..(Motu should package their gear and software in wood..just a thought)..

Has anyone had a similar problem or can anyone replicate this? This also seems to be the problem I'm having with my Arturia BRASS program as a plugin in Dp,though it doesn't happen in the stand-alone version..Maybe its sending too much data or something?

OS 10.5.6 all updates,2.53ghz macbook pro..

You might want to take a look at your mouse/trackball and the driver.

I am having a similar problem when I try to load a preset, especially once I start moving from folder to folder.
I use a Wacom tablet witch means that the pen is often pressed down when navigating through folders.
When I use the mousse with cliks and double clicks it it does not crash.

It must be a little bug specific to MachFive2 as I've never had that problem with other programs.

The reason I mentioned the mouse driver is that I had a similar problem with Finale. If I quit with the mouse, Finale would crash. If I quit with the command-q keystroke, it would not. Tracked it down to USB Overdrive as I recall. I use Steermouse now (shareware) and it is a great driver. I use it with an MX Revolution.

Then again, that may not have been your problem. We'll never know (and probably never care :) ).
