No MIDI Out of 828mkII

Using MidiOx, I can't seem to send MIDI out of my 828mkII. The ports show up and I've got the routing right. I started by trying to send a Sysex file (done this with other interfaces) and when that didn't work I tried just sending controller messages and notes from MidiOx. The data shows up in the output monitor window in MidiOx, but the MIDI Out light never lights on the 828mkII and nothing is being sent. Any ideas what I might have overlooked? When I send "all notes off" from the 828mkII front panel interface the MIDI Out light does come on. That's the only time I've seen it.
