It's on my list for stuff I will purchase with any Christmas money I get.

Magnus has applied the same philosophy of sound design to "Synplant' as
he did with microtonic. Very clear, detailed, punchy sound. Kind of
a glassy/metallic/plastic sheen to it, which I personally like. He's
a great sound designer and programmer. Price is reasonable too.

I think it definitely sounds way better than Rapture or Sylenth. I
demoed both of those and found them very dissapointing, both
tonally/timbre-wise and in programming features.

Yeah, I took a casual look at that the other day and found it an interesting concept with a nice GUI, but unfortunately I'm just too slammed to the wall both at work and in the project studio these days to have time to evaluate anything that isn't absolutely essential.

I look forward to reports from those who are less constricted .

I remember years ago when I was in the jazz world, working with musicians who preferred to think and talk like artists. "Paint me a broad stroke", "make a "C" shape", etc. I was in trouble if I didn't respond correctly .

My face hurts from smiling. SynPlant is a pure joy to use. Fun, fun, fun! Grow your own sounds – what a concept! And it works simply and brilliantly.

You can make a patch that might sound, say, like a cool electric piano. But when you raise the mod-wheel, something amazing happens – the piano sound splits into 12 radically different sounds. The note C might give you a saw synth sound, C# a S&H bell kind of sound, D modulated white noise, D# a whoopee whistle, and so on for the full octave. If you like, you can then take any or all of those variations and plant each of them as a new "seed" to take you off to a far different horizon.

Of course, you can also program your sound so that raising the mod-wheel simply introduces something like a slight tuning instability or filter/envelope variations for each note. I don't know of any other synth that can do this.

This little synth can produce some of the most beautiful sounds you've ever heard, and some of the weirdest. I had been planning on buying EastWest's Forbidden Planet whenever it's released. Now I don't need to.

My opinion: 2008 brought three synths that I think will become classics – Omnisphere, Alchemy, and SynPlant.

I really love this little synth. It has its own unique sonic identity. And it's just fantastic fun.
