MOTU DP and GURU. newb versus V. instruments/routing

Post by Chagos »

hi all,
i was wondering if there was anyone else using a combination of DP with fxpansion's GURU.

i'm curious to see if there are any problems or suggestions with how to run GURU inside DP.

I'm having a decent time now with the recording side of DP, but this is my first foray into the virtual plug in fields of DP and i just want it to go smooth, because so far DP is working like a champ.

so if anyone has any hints, tips or warnings about these two together, please share.

thanks

I use GURU inside DP 5.13. Never had any problems with installation or operation.

You need to be careful of versions - Guru 1.5.12 will not work with DP 5.13 - but any version lower or higher (either DP 6+ or Guru+/-) should work OK. Ck out fxpansion's forums for the latest info, apparently they are working on a fix for DP 5.13 & Guru 1.5.12, but given that Guru apparently works in DP 6+, I gave up on waiting for this and have updated to DP 6.

There have been some issues with Guru & DP over the last couple of years, but Angus & Co @ fxpansion seem to be fairly well committed to helping customers, so FWIW, I think that they aren't a bad company to back.
Cheers,
BK

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

i got a stereo track of guru up and running as an instrument insert and all seems to be ok.

now if i can figure out how to get each guru channel on its separate track inside dp i'll be set.
