Yes, but more importantly, next year is the bicentennial of Darwin's first journey to the Galapagos aboard the H.M.S. Beagle.

If not for Darwin's insights, it may never have occurred to anyone to train a monkey to do "human" tasks.

Ahh... Birthday. That day of self-loathing and retrospective examination of all one's failures. That day you start wondering about things:

• Was I an accident?
• Was I the result of dear old mom & dad getting drunk and having at it in the broom closet without a condom?
• What did Dad say when Mom told him? Was it "whaddaya MEAN you're not goin' to abort it?"
• What did big brother say? Probably something like "that thing isn't going to sleep in MY room!"
• Did I cry all the time and make them miserable?
• Did Mom swear she'd never have another after I got stalled half-way out and the doctor had to cut her open to finish the job?
• Did big Sis point and laugh and say "look at his thingy. It's tiny! I'd better warn any girlfriend he gets when he grows up."
• Was I just another canned-student in the school factory?
• When our team huddled and prayed that we would cream the other team, I noticed that their team appeared to be doing the same thing. They creamed us. Does that mean god hates our team, and by association, ME?
• Was I REALLY born to work in McDonalds? Or is that just a stepping stone to greater things, like Burger King?

Ahh, yes... I love birthdays. 'Cause all the darkness in the world can't put out the light of those little candles on my cake.

• Wait a minute... where's my cake? My candles?

Don't worry, it's all in jest. My glass is always half full. ;) Someone poisoned the empty half and I had to throw that half out.

Happy Birthday, Monkey Man!
