828 mk1 is it worth it

I have a pc laptop, almost a year old, have been having issues with a reinstall of the drivers for vista 32 bit. Everytime i plug in the 828 mk1 the system crashes and i have to do a hard reboot. Am i better off ditching the mk1 and going another route?
