A little late to MachFive2 - but I like it

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

Just for the record, I finally updated MachFive to version 2 and love the sounds that it comes with. Not that there aren't a few glitches, like the French oboe loop (middle C - maybe an octave higher?) with a distinct click in the first part of the loop. Huh?

I was a bit worried at first when the file navigation was taking forever and stalling the program. But I guess it needs to get its legs because it's working fine. :) Along with Finale now being able to access AUs. there is no reason to go IAC to DP to access my favs. :)

As an aside, I added a Edirol 61 note controller this week (along with Finale F2009). Damn, I wish Edirol (Roland) would make this puppy in an 88 note controller. But it beats the heck out of the M-Audio 88es in performance and features.

Back to work...

MachFive 2 is excellent. If you have Logic, try using the exs samples in MachFive.

Thanks billf! I don't have Logic yet but may take a serious look at it after my next commission premieres this Fall.

MLC, also if you have GarageBand and/or the Apple JamPacks, M52 will handle those (which are exs anyway).

Good to know. I feel like I have too many sounds at the moment :) But I may well plug in the GB sounds.

Thanks for the tip!

Good to hear you're happy with the Machy, Magilla.

It'll still be another year or two before I get the chance to jump onboard too, but I appreciate hearing positive impressions nevertheless; it all bodes well...

MLC, I just got Finale 2009 as well. A while back I was going to purchase MachFive, but I held off because DP 6 was coming out. Now I'm ready to take the plunge. Any issues I should know about regarding Finale / DP / MachFive compatibility? Thanks.

Frankly, I haven't tried Finale with M5 as an AU yet. I intended to try it later today. As F20090 is now AU and audio file savvy, DP as an IAC is no longer useful to me. I probably won't have time to test that for you (if that's what you needed?) until a few days at best.

Finale 2009, however, is quite nice. I am very happy to say that for the first time in like 3 years or more. I am so glad I sold my Sibelius prog just in time. Never used it and the other guy feels the same way I do about F and S, but in reverse. (That would be S & F?). :)

What? You mean the biggest adherent for M52 on this board doesn't have it yet? Blasphemy. Say it isn't so. :o

I wish I could, Billy. My crappy budget took a dive a while back and shan't recover barring a miracle.

Still, Machy will likely be the first VI I buy when I'm able (in a year or two). FWIW, I was saying "a year or two" two years ago (for Machy I and later for II), but as I implied, things got a whole lot worse a little while ago.

Thank you very much for noticing man; you're a legend.

Ah, well I do remember you staunchly defending MachFive 2 when it was still vaporware, and encouraging the discouraged masses to have faith, that MachFive would rise again. Which indeed it did. MOTU should donate a copy to you for nearly single handedly keeping the idea alive when most had given up.

Ha! You're too kind, Billy; what a generous thought.

To be completely honest (an unfortunate requirement of my tenancy here on earth), I did allow myself the occasional indulgence of imagining that MOTU did this. Mind you, I s'pose anyone in my position would be vulnerable to the occasional flight of fancy where money and gear are concerned.

I just hope it's lived up to all the (Monkey-supplied) hype, Billy. :D

Monkey Man, here's an idea:
