DP6 UI things we love!
Just a positive note about a UI change:
I LOVE having the nudge resolution in the GE window. I also love that when you switch from one format to the other, it remembers your last setting. (ie: when jumping back and forth between nudging 10 ticks and nudging 1 sample.) Has saved me lots of time today.
Anyone else?

I like the DP6 UI as well. I wouldn't want to go back to the DP5 look.

I like the new UI also..... It will be more fluid once I get use to it. Ergonomic.
BUt, I have to many problems with DP6 to continue to use.. need to wait.

It's nice to hear some positive things
I just received mine on Wednesday, I haven't decided if I'm going to install it yet. I guess I'm a little chicken

The thing is that DP5's UIO didn't really bother me. I'm getting used to DP6's UI and with the new colors (thanks to Grimepoch) It's easier on the eyes.
I should also add that DP6 is way better than DP5 for me in general. a lot of improvment on the efficiency side... eg: It doesn't stutter anymore when you move the loop points is a little example that comes to mind. I'm scared (positively
) of what DP6.13 will be!!!

There are a couple of things that are bugging me, but overall I think once I get used to the new location of things it will result in an improved work flow. I agree that the new nudge menu is great - big time saver. The Comp Take feature is totally changing the way I handle multiple takes...in a good way.

also getting used to it.
i like changes, so i am happy to try new things, but i miss some things i used to have available with one click and now i need more than one clik, for example to go to the VI mixer i used the V button on the mixer a lot, now its gone so i have to go the mini menu to get it (i just learned the short cut, so i guess i will use that)
i also used the S button in every window, now its only in the transport section, i hope i get used to it....

When I'm tracking, I'll often have one hand on the mouse and one hand on the board (even if it's only the talkback switch). I've gotten used to using the mouse for certain operations and it's going to be tough to learn to change. I can understand Audioflotis's frustration.Dwetmaster wrote:use a key command for it...

I also find DP6 UI a great step forward. However I do not have the feeling that it got much faster - at least not on my G5.
Some things I would like to see:
- presets for sidebars - so that you can call a fixed configuration on a side bar or exchange such configurations
- short names for the window names for multiple tabs in sidebars - e.g. CI for cursor information, SI for selection information etc.
- for the plugin windows why not also allow for tabs - have a channelstrip in one plugin window - like in Adobe products allow to drag and drop tabs into windows and out of them.
- in the Consolidate Window (middle part) allow to hide the window selection buttons etc. Allow to hide ruler in TO or allow to make the ruler smaller in TO.
Otherwise they got a huge step ahead of uniting their previously a bit edgy concept of integrating their old Window concept into consolidate window concept.
The Track Selector could need so new concepts perhaps - why not use modifier keys when clicking on the icon for the TS to switch between those states selectable in the preferences? Also modifier keys to show hide tracks in top most or all windows would be nice.
After a short time with DP6 I do not want to go back to DP5.13
(Although I actually thought I will use that until the release for DP6.1 at least).
best
