Position Bar Gone in DP6?
I can't find the "position bar" that used to be up among the transport controls. Is there a way to turn it on? Am I missing something obvious? I checked the DP6 manual's index but , even though it was on page 40 in the DP5 manual, it wasn't in that index either.
I used it quite often and found it a quick way to , f'rinstance, take things back a few bars or otherwise move around on the track.
Is it actually gone? If so , I miss it already.
Thanks for any info ~ JZ

I forget if it's there or not. It's kind of like the tempo bar, I've just kind of blocked it.qwerty wrote:I can't find the "position bar" that used to be up among the transport controls. Yes, I've complained about this to everyone but motu. I think it's time we all did.

I've said it before in other threads, and I'll say it again: While it's true that MOTU does check Unicornation, I think you'll have FAR greater impact by sending your comments and feature requests to them directly. They replaced the old suggestion box link with an online form (go to the 'Company' link on their site). However, I still think the best thing is a hard-copy letter. They even invite letters to the DP Development Team in the DP user guide, and give their mailing address. After spending a couple of weeks with DP 6, I sent them a five-page hard-copy letter detailing my concerns, and I hope you guys will write too, even if it's just a short note with a feature request like restoring the position bar.

I too, miss the position bar.
like the NY Times: I didn't often use it, but it was good to know it was there.

DP6 has been a real downer:
CONS:
1. NO POSITION BAR!!! I used it all the time. Unbelievable!
2. The washed out look makes it so hard for me to read anything. We should be able to increase the font size on the controls so we can see what we're trying to read. Poor visual design.
3. Plugins are acting very, very irregularly, even MOTU's own plugins like SI and EI. My Bass & Drum Rig and other plugins have nearly unuseable erratic behavior. Knob goes berzerk and don't stay where you put them, if you can get them to go where you want at all!
4. Things sputter, erratically, taking more time than DP5 to process.
5. Sometimes whole MIDI Tracks have their sound stop playing for no reason. Sometimes re-opening the Project brings the sound back, sometimes not. Eventually it does come back.
6. Plugins often act unaccessible, even after you click on them to bring them to the front for access.
7. The position of the buttons for enlarging the waveforms vertically and horizontally was better with DP5, on the top left and easy to interact with. Now with DP6 they're way at the bottom right and very tiny.
8. MOTU seems to have released this new DP6 for us to be guinea pigs to see how well it works, rather than making an improvement over DP5 for us to enjoy. Thumbs down on DP6, except for the ProVerb, which is great. The look of this DP6, to me, is ugly, too.
PROS:
1. I really like the ProVerb plugin.

While I don't agree with diesel's pessimism or overall verdict, I do agree when he says this:
7. The position of the buttons for enlarging the waveforms vertically and horizontally was better with DP5, on the top left and easy to interact with. Now with DP6 they're way at the bottom right and very tiny.

I'm with you on position bar and items 1,2, 7 and 8.
I haven't used ProVerb yet. I have Altiverb, UAD 140 Plate and Lexicon PCM91, so I'm in no particular rush.
