DP 6.0 edits take long time - ideas?

Sent a Tech Link to MOTU.
While I'm waiting for their response, I thought I'd ask the forum:
I've been working in 6.0 exclusively for a few weeks now.
I've noticed that simple audio edits - copy, paste, for example, take incredibly long. Sometimes over a minute just to copy a short 2 second mono soundfile and paste it somewhere later in the track. This is with no plugins instantiated and not much else happening in the file.
I've tried setting the "Studio/Configure Studio Settings/Prefill buffers for Quick Start" to off, as recommended elsewhere in the forum, but it doesn't seem to help much on my setup.
Does anyone know if there's some preference file I can trash that will improve performance, or some other fix that I can do on my end?
General Requests:
1. I wish we could still select non adjacent tracks for simultaneous editing in the Tracks window, as used to be possible in earlier versions. It's a lot of extra work to have to move non-adjacent tracks next to each other to be able to edit them together. Now, when we select non-adjacent tracks, all the tracks in between are also selected.
2. I wish we still had access to the "tool well" at the top right of the Control Panel, so we can select Sequence Editor, Quickscribe, Mixing Board, etc, without having to mouse to the Project menu...
Best,
