.

What plug-ins do you have?

Have you been able to get past the point of AU examination, or is that when it crashes?
Mac Mini Server i7 2.66 GHs/16 GB RAM / OSX 10.14 / DP 9.52
Tascam DM-24, MOTU Track 16, all Spectrasonics' stuff,
Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.

Trying taking out your plug ins to see if you can start up. Go to Library/Audio/PlugIns/Components and pull those bad boys out and put them on your desktop for now.

If you have Melodyne or an old version of T-Racks, that may be the problem.

Same thing happened to me today. I repaired permissions and pulled all non-DP plug ins (including all AU, MAS, VST, etc., ) out of their folder and it started right up - as did DP 5.13 - which also refused to start after installing DP 6.

Apparently, both programs are using the same support program to examine plug-ins. In my case, it was the KontactPlayer2 plug-in. The old Garritan player doesn't work either and has the same results. Why DP doesn't simply say the plug-in didn't pass and mark it as bad (as in past versions) is unknown to me. But MOTU has their work cut out for them. I wish I was beta testing for them as I could report this easier that setting up a tech link. But I'm not.

Here's my Techlink info:

Installed DP 6 today. Crashed on startup. DP 5.13 also would not run after installing DP 6. Repaired permissions. Same. Removed all non MOTU plug-ins and added them one at a time to isolate the problem.

KontaktPlayer2 consistently crashes DP 6 and now DP 5.13 at startup. DP 5.13 always worked until today. Same true for GarrtianPersonalOrchestra Player (original).

And here's the solution (as posted earlier by blue and others):

Replace the MOTU AudioUnit Support.bundle (root/library/audio/plugins/MAS) with the one that DP 5.13 installed. Another Time Machine success story for me. If you didn't back it up, I am happy to send you a copy under the condition that MOTU sanctions the email. YOU will have to take of that. I am not opposed to posting a copy on my website, but again, ONLY if MOTU says it's OK and you will have to get the permission from them and have them contact me. I would hope that they would include that in an update soon for those who want to use previously compatible plugs.

I fixed the problem. I downloaded a freeware app called AudioUnit Manager. I select the plugs that I think that DP6 wont read. Presto!!! Opens up!!

For the sake of documenting issues, which plugins were the problem children?

The problem child here is the MOTU AudioUnit Support.bundle (root/library/audio/plugins/MAS) as mentioned above and in many other threads.

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? Oh yeah, they were thinking how cool the GUI was. NOT. Perhaps they were thinking they'd be greeted a liberators of the GUI? NOT NOT!
