I never got this message with DP 4.61 in OS 10.3.9, but as soon as I upgraded to 10.4.11, every time I'm playing a session with more than around 20 tracks, the 'audio engine has dropped samples' box pops up sparodically. Sometimes this happens during recording. I don't lose anything, but it's freaky for the client when they hear the Apple warning sound in the middle of a take.
Any idea on how to get this to go away? My separate internal audio disk is usually around 3/4 full, but it was that way in OS 10.3.9 too, and I never had the problem in that configuration.
G5 dual with 4 gigs ram.
It occurs to me, the only other change in the system was a UAD card, installed around the same time as the OS upgrade, but I get the message even when no UAD plugins are in use. I wonder if it's the ilok's fault?
I also picked up Disk Warrior and ran it. It said it fixed a few things, but not enough, apparently.
I'd go back to 10.3.9 if it wasn't for some plugins that require 10.4.

Try increasing your buffer size and see if that helpsduncan wrote:I never got this message with DP 4.61 in OS 10.3.9, but as soon as I upgraded to 10.4.11, every time I'm playing a session with more than around 20 tracks, the 'audio engine has dropped samples' box pops up sparodically. It was probably the buffers, which were set at 512 for some strange reason. I had always assumed they were set at 1024, which was the case a while back. Could be last time I trashed the DP prefs to get my 2408 to work, the 512 buffers setting came back.
Thanks for the reminder.
