828mk3 latest drivers not properly installed

I picked up my 828mk3 yesterday, plugged it all in and gave it a test run, drivers of cd installed without a hitch. Had very nice sound coming through, was able to CueMix without a problem. I noticed straight away under sound settings in control panel i had MOTU 828mk3 in the volume tab as my audio device and the right channels were selected under the audio tab.

I downloaded the firmware upgrade, removed the old drivers and started from scratch. This time i installed the audio drivers (32bit) on my XP laptop (TI firewire) and once that was done i restarted. Then i powered the device up in bootload mode and ran the firmware upgrade, it installed without a problem and then i cycled the device. I then tried to play a mp3 and my god, i nearly went fucken deaf. The master vol on the face of the card was at -60db and the track played so fucken loud and started to redline on the card. I stopped it promptly and checked the volume of winamp which wasnt up much at all. I then checked through the sound settings in control panel and noticed that the volume tab didnt show "MOTU 828mk3" but "No Audio Device", the audio tab still showed what it did before this update was installed.

So, for the last hour or so i have been reinstalling drivers to no avail.. I left my original CD at work thinking this fucken upgrade would be troubleless. In the midst of reinstalling drivers i also copped a BSOD (first on this laptop and its a few months old) and restarted. Ive started from scratch over 10 times now and still cant get it to recognise the device properly.

What is the next step. Ive installed ever other audio driver on the lappy and restarted multiple times to make sure the motu drivers were being installed right but still nothing. Can i downgrade the firmware or is there the old drivers on the net for me to get? Im battling here, ive been wanting to continue righting my tune and this ••••ed "upgrade" has done nothing but give me a headache, to top it off after i saw it working fine before it.....
