Yeah-- there were a couple of long threads about it.

That looks pretty amazing, doesn't it? If it works as well as it appears that it will, DNA will be a major landmark in the history of audio editing.

It looks like I'll soon be able to fix those Beatles, Hendrix and Zeppelin records, and finally enjoy them.

LOL! :P THAT was funny!

Well I guess the new DNA technology will certainly change things a lot. It MUST have its limitations, but even so. To be able to perform just minor tweaks will open the audio world to new possibilities.

I can't wait! 8)

Funny thing, composers have been doing that for centuries. Nice to see that technology is almost catching up. :)

Before you know it, they'll actually figure out why certain notes go with others and why certain series of notes are effective and others aren't.

In the mean time, ask a composer. - 8)

It certainly would be interesting to be able to transpose some of those songs into different harmonic keys just to listen to them with a fresh and different vibe. 8)

Also, I'll be able to salvage some old demo mixes where my guitar was slightly out of tune or where I played wrong bass notes. Can't wait to try it.

In some cases it will help show that people with less (or no) talent can push buttons and make believe that do have talent. :) Of course the proof of the pudding is in the concert hall...

As an audio tool to fix glitches, I think it will be fantastic. As a tool to make yourself sound better, practice would be a much better investment.

I don't disagree with what's been said or implied--

I'll add, though, that ANY plugin or tool is only just that. To the extent that everything we have now in the way of plugins could be misapplied quite thoroughly, it will always boil down to whether or not the person using any tool (real or virtual) understands what *not* to do with them, including when not to use them at all.

But the notion of having access to stray noises that overlap an important part of a track is nothing short of brilliant.

As a sound design tool it could be amazing as well.

Indeed--

You know, even the greatest recording artists have had to discard some of their best moments because of some unwanted sound.

Can you imagine being able to select and remove just the 60 cycle hum out of a guitar track while leaving the guitar itself untouched?
