Just got a a brand new 828 mk3.i followed the steps in the manual and tought its going to be easy to set it up and get it running in few minutes, unfortunately that wasnt the case.

i am currently using a laptop. so the provided cable was useless, i then decided to get a 6pin- to 4 pin to coonect it with the laptop. then i installed the latest drivers from the motu web site (828mk3_106ud), and then connected it to the pc and turned it on... nothing, although you can hear that when you switch it off or on, the coputer is making a small sound as you would connect or disconnect a usb hard drive or switch on the wireless.

i think i tried all options, is there anything i missed? can the 6pin to 4 pin be the issue? if it's the case, how can i hook it up with my laptop?

ps: im using windows vista.
thankx a lot.

are you using the power supply? the 4 pin firewire cable does not provide power to the unit

kind regards

When you loaded the latest drivers did you go through the process of updating the firmware on the mk3 unit afterwards?

no, i tried but nothing seemed to be connected.
one update: now i can see 3 or 4 devices in the windows hardware list, as motu audio, motu wave, motu gsif and motu MIDI. the problem is that none of the motu softwares works (cuemix, motu audio console...). they all say please check if your device is on and driver and blabla ...

Vista might sux, but mine is running fine so far with Vista Ultimate 64. I made sure I had a TI FW chipset. This audio device is going to take some time to get use to.
