We're using 828 MK2 FireWire + Windows XP SP2 + Nuendo/Audition.
Never had a glitch. 100% stable.
In the main studio i'm using a 24i/o also in a WinXP SP2 setup, also running Nuendo/Audition and CD Architect.
Never had a problem either.
Both studios are professional installations doing commercial work on a daily basis. Clients are happy, recordings sound good and studio time is efficiently used because, so far, our MOTU setups, in both studios, are completely problem free.

I'm not sure the others caught the fact that you want to string a Powercore in there as well.
I personally don't know (lot of help I am eh?) ... but if I where to try, I'd opt for separate FireWire controllers for each unit.
My 828mkII FW works great under XP Pro SP2. Wish I had a PoCo.
