MIDI interface in standalone mode?

Post by cuttsn »

Hi

I play Electronic Wind Instrument hooked up to 3 synths and a sampler. I am wanting to add a footpedal for sending patch changes etc.

I have been led here as I believe I could do the MIDI routing/channelising etc. that I need to do using a MOTU MIDI interface.

I won't need to connect the MOTU to the computer most of the time, in fact most of the time I want to use it just as a router/channeliser in standalone mode.

2 questions therefore..........

1. Is this possible? If so, which of the interfaces allow me to do this?

2. As most of the new ones seem to be USB powered, is it possible to power them from a powered USB hub and not have to run the computer up to power it (most of my use will be in live performance where I won't want the computer running just to power the interface!)

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Try the MTP AV USB. I have one and it's powered from the AC mains.
