! Verify ReWire DDL.Cpp (1078) : Verify Failure
I'm running DP 3.1 on a G4 1.25...please help if you can!!
I use a MOTU 828 and an 7200 rpm external firewire hard drive.
DP is crashing and giving me the following error:
! Verify ReWire DDL.Cpp (1078) : Verify Failure
(The little error box comes up with the little exclamation point in the little yellow triangle...with a little box to click that says "CONTINUE")
After clicking, "CONTINUE", DP crashes and I get the following error:
DP 3.11 has quit due to a Type 3 error
Then, the finder crashes and the computer freezes.
I've written down this error and this is the second time this has happened.
I have no idea what the "verify failure" message is about or how to fix this problem.
Also, I'm not sure if it's related but I've also been getting the following error frequently as well:
I/O error (MOTU Audio System MAS MASBiteReadTask.cpp, 148 [-36:2])
This error doesn't make DP crash or force quit...it does however turn off the MOTU Audio System while running DP...so I have to choose the MOTU Audio System to make it run again. I didn't know if the ".cpp" issue is a related problem with this error and first error...or if they are two different things. I have no idea how to fix this! I posted an earlier posting about making my firewire hard drive work correctly with DP an my G4...not sure if this is also a related issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

"Verify Failure" means that the Rewire extension you're using is not compatible with DP for some reason.
Have you added any new software or demos recently?

I've also received the rewire verify error you speak of, and have unfortunately never been able to find out what's causing it. I've encountered the error in BOTH DP 3.11 and Cubase VST 5.x, so it's clearly a rewire issue and not something unique to DP. The most drastic work around is to disable rewire via the Extensions Manager, but then obviously you won't be able to use any rewire apps after that. Since I often use rewire I've just learned to live with it since it's fairly rare. When it does happen though it totally crashes my computer as well. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Even a demo such as Ableton Live 4 can add a Rewire extension that's too new for apps like DP3 and Cubase 5.
Disable/remore your existing Rewire extension and get an older one in there.

I agree, in my experience it's the later rewire extensions that are causing the problem. When I was using Reason 1.x I never got this error. It wasn't until Reason 2.x that I started getting it in both Cubase and DP. The trouble is, both Reason 2.x and Live 4 INSIST on having a particular version of the rewire extension. If you're running Reason 2.x and you replace the rewire extension with an earlier one the app won't even launch. Live, on the other hand will simply replace the extension with an updated one upon launch.Originally posted by Labonza:

Again, since I use Reason 2.5 and Live 4, and need the later rewire extension, I just have to live with it!

Curious why you are using OS 9 and DP 3.1 on a fairly fast Mac?
If you can afford it, get a 120 GB HD and add it as an INTERNAL drive. Then go buy Mac OS Tger ($129 unless you teach - then about $80) and update DP to 4.52.
That will also require you to update many, if not all, of your existing programs (probably a few hardware items as well.) But ultimately, you are running a pretty old program on a close to extinct OS.
If you want ANY kind of compatibility in the future, you have waited long enough to make the jump to "post turn-of-the century technology."
Good luck!
