Yesterday evening I feasted my ears. Went to see the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, and they are simply wonderful. I hadn't seen anything on this level for some time now.
The phrasing, the tone, the DYNAMICS, the vibrance and energy they impart on this music is first rate. They played standard repertoire (Mozart, Bach), and closed the evening with Shoenberg´s Verklarte Nacht. It´s not easy to do, but they did put tears in my eyes. I had never heard that piece live, and it just blew me away. The intensity of that music is insane! I´m SO buying that score. There are many wonderful things to be learnt from it.
Anyway, just wanted to share this, and look out. The SCO seems to be on tour. If they do reach your hometown I STRONGLY suggest you drop what you´re doing and go hear/see them
