I have a State Farm Personal Articles Policy with pro use rider. It is very reasonably priced. No liability coverage, but it pays replacement cost up front on gear that is lost, stolen or damaged. About the only thing not covered is intentional destruction by me, so I resist my Emmersonic tendencies and leave the knife at home when I gig.
PS: State Farm paid me quickly and completely when all my gear was destroyed in a fire a few years back.

That kind of rider on a home policy (if we are talking about a home studio) is fine if you don't need the liability coverage, as Markus says, and it costs just about nothing.
If you do have people in and out of your studio for paying gigs, I'd suggest talking to a business insurance guy about a basic business policy. They all have a standard liability section which you'll be glad to have when somebody slips on the ice on your stoop and cracks their skull.
My studio is in my home, but it's where I make a living, and my studio policy is inexpensive and covers not only the liability but a lot of stuff that basic gear coverage would not (lost income, cost of replacing archives and files, etc.).
