I installed the free KorePlayer 2 to try out the Kore concept (which I'm still not quite getting...)
Yeeeachhh!
The NI Service Center started to question my authorizations for Kontakt 3, then for Garritan Marching Band, then decided my (free, but still necessary) serial number for the KorePlayer was screwy, too, and in general just went haywire.
Yikes.
Manually deleted all Koreplayer 2 files, now all seems back to normal. Or so I hope...
I couldn't get it to work either when I downloaded it in December, and promptly deleted it from my system. It seemed to break all the NI stuff.
Annoyingly, it still slows down my authorisation startup sessions every time I bring up the license manager -- as does the bug that causes Elektrik Piano 1.5 to show up as a standalone authorisation outside of the Komplete package.
Now that iLok, Synchrosoft, and some of the other vendor-specific authorisations and updates have improved a lot in the past year, I find NI's license manager the most annoyingy buggy, sluggish and crash-prone of the lot. And why on earth can't it remember one's preference for ONLY checking for updates that haven't already been downloaded?
Anyway, I'm going to wait a version or two before reconsidering any product with "Kore" in its title.

"YUCK -- tempting because I want to play with MASSIVE sounds but don't want MASSIVE. But probably will cause problems w my Kontakt, FM8, Absynth and Eastwest stuff."
There's something technically "wrong" with NI Service Center. My NI-powered EW authorizations keeping going out, and it can be quite an ordeal to get them to kick in again. Service Center is constantly demanding an update of itself before you can use it-- and it seems to be dumping my registrations right and left, telling me that my serial numbers are wrong. I don't know if it's just a matter of the system code being better suited for PC which is less effective/reliable on the Mac platform or not, but NISC has been wonky for a long time.
I signed up to try the demo of K3 and was told that an authorization e-mail would arrive, which never did. Never got to try the K3 demo and never heard back from NI about it. Things like this can make one reluctant to buy their products.
