DP in the UK

Post by croftish »

Having just read the Montreal DP users post, I was wondering if there are many UK users out there?
Sometimes I do feel a little lonely amidst the throng of Cubase, Logic and Live users over here
So...anybody out there?

One more here - been using MOTU since Performer V.1 (1985 ?); swapping 400k floppies to find space for saves, oh, such fun! Jeez, where do the years go  .

Wow! Me too. I started out with a Mac Plus with no second floppy drive. I didn't have the extra coin. Swap. Swap. Swap.

By the way, I'm not in the UK but you took me back to the good ol' days. Thanks!

How many people here mention DP and get a reply along the lines of 'D....what?'

This makes us waaayyy cooler than anyone else of course.

I think I may very well be the only DP user in Ireland (BTW, I lived in London for eight years). There used to be two of us here. Pat was the guy who saved me from Cubase hell and introduced me to Performer.

One of the nicest guys I ever met, it was a genuine privilege to have known him. He was not only an outstanding studio engineer/owner, he was also a highly qualified helicopter pilot. Sadly, he was killed when his helicopter went out of control and crashed on the way back to Dublin from the West of Ireland.

Every time I launch DP I think of him with affection and gratitude.

Kind regards.

Sad story, Dave. I lost my best friend and fellow DP user last August. Kinda strikes a chord in me. Well, I hope you introduce some new guys to DP. Give them the chance that Pat gave you. :)

I asked a good friend of mine from the UK why so many people use Cubase in the UK. His reply was, "because there are so many cracked copies of Cubase". This was back in the SX days. I imagine there are a few less cracks going around these days, however, a lot of the people who started with pirated copies of Cubase ended up buying Cubase later. That's the timeline.
