dp seems to forget while recording

Post by robinsky »

strange behaviour here: i'm doing live recordings in club in vienna/austria almost every week and actually everything's fine with the following setup:

g4 dual 1 ghz mirror drive
600 and something mb ram
pci 424
motu 24 I/O
dp 5.11

i usually record from 8 to 24 tracks at a time at 24 bit and 44.1 khz with no problems. but every now and then (every two month) dp seems to forget a short timeframe somewhere in the middle of a set; somewhere in the timeline a few seconds get lost, mostly between 10 and 40 seconds. there's no information from dp telling me that there is something wrong. the app just keeps on recording.

do i need more ram? what else?

thanx, robinsky

How long are the recordings your doing?

It seems SD2 files can only record for 70mins or so continuously, Also maybe you lose connection briefly with the PCI and the audio drops out.
Creativity, some digital stuff and analogue things that go boom. crackle, bits of wood with strings on them that go twang

the length varies from 30 minutes up to 2 hours. i will compare the affected concerts.

if dp loses connection with the PCI dp would tell, wouldn't it!?
