Upgrade Path

Post by Maestro_T »

Hi,

What would be the proper upgrade path from DP 4.6?

I.e. would it be 4.6 to 4.7?

Straight to 5.??

Also, I own DP 4.6(1) I believe. I purchased 4.5 privately, and they transferred ownership to me. I downloaded 4.6, which I have been happy with so far. I can see from several forums, that DP has moved on since then, but find that I cannot find the details from when ownership was transferred to me. I'm sure I left them in my in box of my email from an old employer. That means they would be gone now.

What is the proper procedure when problems like this come up? Now that I have a bit more time for music, I'd like to upgrade, but I don't want to pay more than I have to.

Thanks once again,

Hi

there is no DP 4.7 so you might be struggling there :)

It's a paid upgrade to DP 5, then download the update to 5.13 for free. You'll probably get the upgrade to DP 6 (due within the next couple of months. ish!) if you buy now, but don't quote me on that.

oh and email motu to find out if you're registered or not.

Hi

DP5 upgrade is available now for the DP4.61.
You will have to buy it. Upgrades are cheaper for the registered DP users.

It is also good to know that DP6 is supposed to be published pretty soon.
So you can wait for it if you are not in that hurry.

Contact MOTU if you have more upgrade questions.

Thanks fellas,

I'm not in that big of a hurry, so I think I will wait for DP6 to come out. I had spoken to the distributor when the transfer was done and they said that everything should be fine.

Have either of you got a good email addy for motu to make enquiries?

Thanks again...

Maestro -- nobody is sure when DP 6 will come out. Could be this month. Could be next month. Could be the next month after that. etc. MOTU kept it vague.

However - - - - - -

Usually with MOTU, if you buy a previous version (say DP 5) during a certain time period near to when a new version (say DP 6) comes out, they will send you a free upgrade to the new version when it is available.

I would check with customerservice@motu.com though to be sure.
