New Intel CPU info--!!
6,1 MacPro, 96GB RAM, macOS Monterey 12.7.6, DP 11.33
The Dunnington / Tigerton processors are out of the Mac Pro league (I think they can scale to four CPU sockets and possibly beyond), but the Nehalem processors have performance that's worth waiting to get... if you were going to wait anyway. As we've seen from the past Mac Pro update, Apple doesn't seem to be in any hurry to update the MP immediately after Intel releases a new workstation platform. Regardless, an octo-core Nehalem system will take VI capacity to a new level, and in that respect they're exciting for musicians. As a geek, I'm also excited by the new QuickPath interconnect that will supposedly make Xeons and Itaniums more interchangeable from a physical and electrical - though not software - point of view, but the Itanium architecture doesn't bring anything to the table for DAWs, so it matters much less here.
Would you call it, umm...precious?
