NE1 else have this problem with quicktime attachments &

Post by Tripi »

Hey...... first post in the "Mac" category:

This is minor....... i know, but it drives me crazy. I'm sure a lot of other composers here regularly email mixes or cues to directors/partners/friends, and we use Apple's Mail program. Not too long ago, the way that quicktime attachments were displayed changed. Now it adds very strange parts of a quicktime window in the email. If I save it and look at the draft... it's normal. If I send it, it displays fine. I'm just wondering where this error came from, and how to fix it.

Here is an example:

any ideas?

thanx

I've seen that and other quirks, but I've yet to delve into the solutions.

I don't know what happened to Apple Mail. Now, it doesn't seem to matter how my filters and rules are set, all of my mail (even mail I sent to myself as a test) is marked as Junk. (I'm starting to take the hint, though!)

As for QT itself-- I've seen some very odd behaviors of late: when attaching audio there are now two QT control bars that appear even with one file attached (movie or audio only)-- one overlays itself on top of the message text and the other one appears to attach itself normally. Saving as a draft and reopening seems to fix the display, but this seems to have started at least by QT 7.4.0 or 7.4.1.... and it only happens with QT attachments.

I need to set aside an hour or so to completely redo my Mail Preferences-- and then explore whatever brilliant ideas Apple instituted for new defaults which may have overridden any previous user settings.

But if it's any consolation, you are not alone. If I encounter a solution I'll be sure to post it.

Well, i'm not sure it has to do with a newer version of quicktime. I've had 7.2 on my computer for some time now. I believe it started after an OS update, and not a QT update. Makes me think it might be Mail instead. Who knows.
Just wish it would work.
