I saw it was covered once and it seemed like the major issue was a/d and d/a conversion...but still no real solution to incorporating an external piece of hardware as an insert rather than a send or direct out.

Hi All...is there anything in DP like new the external audio router (see below)in Live 7?...i would love to be able to route an external compressor early in an effects chain via the inserts....is this possible.

Although it is not a simple in DP as in Live, you just have to set up the bussing, which is not hard at all. As in Live, you have to allow for the round trip delay, which you can do in DP by shifting the source track ahead by the appropriate amount, or recording the post-effect sound and realigning with the original track. I have to admit, Live's approach does make it look awful easy...
