i just wanted to say that since i bought my new quad 2.66 i have been slowly migrating back to my main mac and off of the slave (dual 2.5 G5/8 gigs ram). i was stressing the poor thing but i finally have it running using about 6.5 gigs of its' ram.
on to the M52 mac.
on the slave most of my sounds were for EXS as i am using il-Logic as a host for VSL pro, SAM brass & perc and Dan Dean stuff. RAX for VSL VI.
i needed more variations/articulations so i decided to migrate the EXS samples and instruments into M52. SAM brass, SAM True Strike 1 & 2, VSL pro perc. stuff.
so far it handles EVERYTHING that i throw at it!!!! EXS files, .gig files, K2 files and old converted stuff from M51
i need to find the samples first, then i save the setting as a M5 file then i never need to search for that sound's files again.
my intel quad isn't even flinching. even the 500mb Black Grand doesn't make it whince (sp).
my next adventure will be to combine some Epic Horns effects sounds into a layered, keyswitched patch. time to break out the manual.
