SRC, some wisdom required please!!

Post by stephentayler »

Hi there

Would like to ask some advise on Sample Rate Conversion.

Needing to convert from 48k to 44.1k.

1. I am going to EQ and compress these files again. Is it best to convert sample rate before or after the remastering?

2. I have DP 5.13, PTLE 7.4 and Soundtrack Pro. Would I be best getting Peak or Barbabatch to make these conversions?

TIA

kind regards

Stephen

1. I'd say do SRC last, though logic suggests it shouldn't make much of a difference. However, be sure to do all processes before reducing bit depth, if you are planning to do so.

2. Don't have PTLE or Soundtrack Pro, but SRC in Peak 5 sounds loads better than SRC in DP. My guts say, I wouldn't trust PTLE. Don't really know about STP.
