Best powered nearfields for $600 a pair?

Post by midilance »

I'd like to hear anyone's opinions on the best powered nearfields available for $600. It's for a young, beginner musician's home studio.
Mac Studio m2 Max // OS 14.7// DP 11.34 // MotU Ultralite mk4 // Komplete Ultimate 15 // Arturia V Collection 9 // Korg Collection // Stylus RMX 1.8 // Omnisphere 2.6.2c // Scarbee Keys and Basses // T-Racks 5 Max // Amplitube 5 Max // BFD3 // Blue3 // PolyM //

How big is your room? Is it treated? What are you using right now?
Thank you,

KRK monitors are about that price-range... I really liked the KRK V6!

ADAM A7 - a huge step up, but only a little dearer?

If you needed more oomph down the track you could add their matching sub.

Go on, Brad, that's your cue.

MOTU DP8.07, MachFive 3.2.1, MIDI Express XT, 24I/O

Hey MM
I plan on upgrading to the A7s
But I think it's more than 600$ a pair isn't it?

Tannoy Reveal 5As run just under $700 (U.S.) a pair new. I use and really like their 6D models.

Room and treatment is huge. Panels and traps and foam, Oh my!

I use A7's and HR824's with great results. I favor the A7's.
They work best in my room. They are so smooth.
I have a small room. Looking for something bigger.

A bit more money. Used around 8. As low as 7 if you're lucky.
I have seen them new for 900.

The other suggestions are good, also.

I'm not an expert, I just love to record.
Nuendo 2, 3, 4, SX 2, 3, 4, Wavelab 5 & 6, Mac G5, dual 2.5, PC 2.4, SBS chassis, 4xUad, Powercore PCI, Motu 24io, Motu 1224x3, Tascam US2400, MTR 90II 2", 24 Channels Dolby SR, Adam A7's, HR824's, and all the other stuff.

I'd love a pair too; still trying to get dud pair of Alesis 720DSPs fixed so I can ditch 'em and grab the ADAMs.

I've seen 'em going for amazing prices down under.
They did lower the RRP on them when it was realised just how popular they had become.
For once a company actually passed on its economy-of-scale savings.
Gotta love it.
