L.A.M.E. framework help
I can't seem to install correctly the Lame framework. I've placed it in the library folder and MOTU reads it correctly but I can't export in mp3 format. Any idea?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I was having the same issue as you and found this post a few weeks ago and it worked for me. Also, you should know in DP 5.12 if you have any track record enabled you will not be able to make an Mp3. Here;s a copy of the thread:
"In another thread, someone was asking about getting LAME to work. That's one of those questions even us old-timers dread, because it involves either using the terminal, or relying on someone else's installers, which don't always work. In the past, I've had LAME installers that worked for my computers, but they did not work for my new INTEL Mac. I assumed it requires a Universal Binary, so I went out and looked for new installers. The ones I found were not giving me any hope. After using them, DP still would not bounce to MP3. Even with the LAME.Framework sitting right there in the Frameworks folder, it said it could not find LAME.Framework.
MIDI Life Crisis posted an installer that apparently adds some of the necessary files, but not the LAME Framework. So, for Intel users, I'm going to post the two links which yield the two installers which apparently are required for us to get the full install of everything needed for bouncing to LAME in DP.
If anyone wants to experiment with just one or the other, I can tell you that I tried the 1st link by itself, and was not successful. I tried adding the 2nd installer, and it all worked. You may want to try link #2 FIRST, and see if it suffices. If not, then add link #1, and it should work.
Link #1: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/23898
Link #2: http://www.freeverse.com/soundstudio/mp3framework/
I'd appreciate it if someone would reply here and tell me whether link #2 alone was enough to make LAME work in DP on their INTEL Mac. Or for that matter, if link #1 sufficed. It's so hard to know exactly what is happening, and with no "UN install," it's nearly impossible to experiment.
So, for me it was Link #2 that did the trick. Let me know what worked for you.

The above link is the same as link #2 in my quoted post. (you have to search the lilnked page for it, and then click on that) So, the above link is really all you need. It will download an installer.

Thanks for the help guys. The second link worked for me, that is
http://www.kjams.com/downloads/LAME.zip
There's no need to install anything else other than the framework itself from
http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/20814
It's quite a good tool and highly advisable if you need an mp3 file with an acceptable quality.

Thanks for the confirmation on the links. I've noted both working links for future reference, and I've added it to a file of things to be updated in the DP Tips Sheet, as this is a frequent question.

I was having this same problem today, when trying an mp3 export for the first time with DP on an Intel mac. Previously I used LAME all the time on my PPC machine. DP was telling me "You must install LAME" even after I had the Framework sitting int he corect place just like my other mac. Using the above installer fixed it.

Glad to know it works for you too but all the credit really goes for mbmusic, Jarok and Shooshie. This is why this forum is so great!
It's been some months now after the request and I must say I've been using LAME consistently with excellent results, although I've been reading posts questioning the validity of this framework. Well, it really is a pity that some other fellows cannot enjoy it.
Have fun!

Re: L.A.M.E. framework help
Where can I find LAME 3.98 for Mac? The one I downloaded (3.99) must have been a Windows version or somethings else called LAME. It doesn't work with DP8 however.
I found it now at Macupdate.

This post was from years ago. You no longer use the framework version in DP8 and it goes in another location. I'm using my phone right now but search the board for DP8 and LAME.
