Forward-Reverse with Rex Files or in LoopLab??
Is there a forward-reverse function in MachFive 2?...I've imported a rex file and I want to have one of the "slices" to play from the beginning to the end, and then from the end back to the begining and so on.....Anyone know how to do that? Phatmatik Pro(doesn't work in Pro Tools on an Intel Mac) and my Kurzweil can do it...as well as some Roland samplers. It's helpfull in some cases for me...Please Respond!

Do you want the sample to loop-play your slice, back and forth ? Or do you just want it to play back and forth once then keep on playing ?needlz1906 wrote:I want to have one of the "slices" to play from the beginning to the end, and then from the end back to the begining and so on.....
The first is not possible in slice mode. However you can export your loop with the slice mode modifications (tempo, envelope, etc.) as a new sound file, re-open it, set the loop points on the given slice and set the loop type as "alternate".
The easiest way to achieve the second is to copy your slice, paste it at the end of the selected slice and reverse the paste audio (using right-click or cmd-R).
Hope this answers.
edit: you can't copy/paste in slice mode... you'll have to switch back to stretch or sample. but you can do that after you've selected the slice[/b]

When not in LoopLab, you can use the "Alternate" loop type (set in the Sample Info pane). You can create a "regular" preset from loops by dragging the Convert button in LoopLab to a part in the Parts List (make sure to Save Presets And Samples with this new preset!).

I just want MachFive to loop-play one or more REX slices, back and forth while I'm holding that particular note down..In Phatmatik Pro you could click on a slice and there was a lil option for you to choose if you wanted that slice to play forward, reverse, or forward-reverse. The forward-reverse function was helpful if a slice was a lil too short. It kinda lengthened the slice in a way. It also stopped samples from sounding choppy if I slowed the tempo down...There was also a button for "one shot" which was also helpful for what i do. I'm a HipHop producer using a MPC 4000 as my sequencer triggering MachFive in ProTools BTW..If you go to page 21 of this manual in the link below it'll explain exactly what I'm hoping MachFive can do since this is really what I would be using it for..Please Respond!

reverse a slice
You can easily reverse a slice in looplab : select a the slice you want, do a right-click with your mouse and you will open the waveform editing tool, then you will be able to apply any process including reverse, but also normalise and any DSP. Don't forget that there is also unlimited undo, so you can do a lot of crazy experimentations. I don't know any other software doing that.

Editing loop slices
MachFive 2 can definitely do that stuff, but you do have to convert the sliced loop into a "regular" preset (and save these new samples). Maybe they'll merge these two worlds in the future, but for now there is a workable (if not preferable) approach.needlz1906 wrote:If you go to page 21 of this manual in the link below it'll explain exactly what I'm hoping MachFive can do since this is really what I would be using it for..Please Respond!
