Re: Heavy tracks done with DP 4.52
Yeah man I just listened to O and it sounds pretty big!
What converters did you use?
My only critique is the snare sounded a bit to squashed, but I understand if that was done to make more room for the vocals.
Overall I think the mix was very cool......Nice work.

Hey James. I wasn't sure at first, but I do believe I have at least 4 albums with you on guitar. Let's see...your first solo album, Testament "Low", Death "Spiritual Healing" and of course, Obituary "Cause of Death". I probably have more that I'm forgetting at the moment.
I saw you at the Mirage in Minneapolis around 95'-96'...I think Death was on the ticket as well. I remember talking to Gene, but I can't remembr if it was the same night.
I gotta say, I used to listen to Cause of Death every day for about 6 months straight. It helped get me through art school...especially late nights of working on isometric drawings!
I also should mention that Chuck is still one of my major inspirations and has been for well over 10 years. We still talk about Chuck very often and much of the material we write would, I think, make Chuck proud.
I've been playing drums since age 3, which would make that 28 years now, and there are only a handful of musicians who really influence a person as much as Chuck has. Hopefully the Control Denied album can be finished and released soon.
Anyways, you're a great player...keep it up. Oh yeah, the mixes sound great!

Well, my old fuddy-duddy ears found Stretch Princess to be quite wonderful. I'm assuming the whirligig interruption in each section is your copy protection. Other than that, I was mesmerized. Excellent work, man.

no copy protection in place... the server must've been having problems.
Re: Heavy tracks done with DP 4.52
James,
Those mixes sound great! Love the band, too!
I have a couple of questions for you, if you don't mind.
First, what and how do you trigger the drums, if you do at all?
Also, how do you use DP to edit/quantize your drum tracks?
I am a drummer and use DP just for personal recordings and would love to know how to get the sounds you are getting.
I appreciate any insight.
Thanks.

Re: Heavy tracks done with DP 4.52
i create a tempo map in the conductor track and have the drummer play to a click.. then for kicks i trigger a MIDI performance using the Trigger plug-in and load samples with either Battery, Mach Five my Kurzweil K2vxs. in fast double kick parts i'll quantize at about 75-80% strength to the grid. at least that's how i approached it for this band. thanks for the compliments.Originally posted by snicka:
