Okay let's be clear. Does anyone know why I cannot seem to Quantize Audio, even when I seem to have my settings all correct. I have read up, I have asked Q's but NO ONE seems to be able to tell me what's up. Yesterday I even waited around for Tech Support but they closed B4 I could get through. Maybe I'll have better luck today. Maybe someone else can help???

I have only used this feature to quantize percussion--tambourines, hand claps, etc. What I do is apply the remove silence to the whole soundbite. You have to find the right threshold, etc. Once you have the soundbite divided up into a bunch of separate soundbites that have some space between them, you select all of the soundbites and do the quantize audio option on them all. They will line up--unless you have some empty space at the beginning of some.
I don;t think you can just quantize an entire soundbite, like, say, a drum track.

What is the context of the audio? Is it a percussive track or not? How many bars, etc.? Maybe even a link to a snippet of the audio can help too. But I don't think there's not enough info in your post to analyze this for you.North Coast Sound System wrote:Okay let's be clear. .
Also, and I'm not even sure if this has anything to do with this, but just in case, check the SB window. Are the SBs you're trying to quantize marked as "Don't pitch shift or don't time stretch"?
If they are, MAYBE that could be it, but I'm not sure.
Good luck.

If you are quantizing beats within audio, you need to analyze the beats first using the Waveform Editor (unless you have set the preference to do this automatically.) If you are quantizing the soundbite containers themselves, then you need to choose the "Notes and Soundbites" option in the quantize window drop down.

>This is in essence what the problem was.
I still think they may have been some resistance in the program to DO that even though I had turned on the necessary options. I have NOT yet had a chance to dive in again and really check to see if I am right about that or not (don't want to spread rumors)
I had turned on the auto analyze feature but I stil.l didn't seem to kick in untill I did something else...but that's just hearsay
