Sorry if this seems to be OT here, but it'd be OT anywhere :)

Would it not be nice if we had a Music section here? I mean, some place where we could exclusively discuss composition, orchestration, form, Harmony, rhythm etc.

I just find those discussions EXTREMELY stimulating, especially taking into account that we have VERY tallented and knowledgeable people in this forum 8) .

Thoughts?

Yeah, hopefully. It would be up to James, of course...

I've no idea what doing this would mean in terms of extra-work for James, but if it's nothing too troublesome, I think a lot of us here would like the idea.

What do you think, James?

Great idea! Music can never be OT, and making/arranging music is a fabulous topic. After all, that's what we do with DP, right?

You have my vote. :)

I think it would also allow us to get a bit away from the sometimes frustrating part of trouble shooting, etc., and let us talk about what ultimately matters the most, and the true reason most of us are here: MUSIC. Music in all its grandieour.

Heated, passionate, long topics on every aspect of music.

With the caliber of members here, it would certainly be a VERY interesting section, would it not?

Such discussions often crop up in the context of other topics, but having a dedicated place to talk about music-specific topics-- arranging, composition, and more.

T'would be cool, me-thinks.

It'd give me a chance to actually learn some theory, as opposed to theoretically learning some fact.

Gee, it'd be a tough read, but I'm up for it.
That'd make it 6 1/2 votes including jgest's and wheever's.

Sounds good to me. James hasn't responded yet. Is that a good sign or a bad sign?
Then again, perhaps the off topic area is where music discussions should go. It might be a PIA for James to add another area.

But I'm definitely in favor of discussions of this type, where ever they may end up.

Phil

ps. Come to think of it, this thread is in the wrong area.
