I've sort of figured out how to do this but clearly I'm not doing something correct, so thought I'd ask for tips.
The scenario: Recording a new track that I'd sketch demo'd several years ago on my PC (working with Fruity Loops and some other simple multi track program before I was in the DP world). While doing the demo, I laid down the perfect solo which I was hoping to import into my new mix somehow. Well, somehow, the safety disc of elements from that demo went missing -- i have looked everywhere -- and all I have is a 44.1 mixdown of that track.

(Currently using DP 4.61 on a dual processor 2.5 gHz G5 with 4.5 GB ram, Motu828MkII, etc.)
So wondering what the PROPER steps are for trying to:
a) adjust the timing (stretching/shrinking) for the section of the guitar solo which I'm trying to line up
b) are there any tricks or work arounds if the amount of stretching I have to do is too vast?
c) i know that re-recording the solo is an option but I seriously doubt if I would ever get the feel of that solo which I like and was very much in the moment. I can try but it would not be the same thing.
any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!
