using a 2408 mk2 and mk3 at the same time...

Post by domreadjones »

wotchya

does anyone know if you can run a mk2 and a mk3 2408 interface from the same 424 card at the same time???

i know you can run multiple mk2 interfaces from a 324 card as i have the manual for this but i am experiencing compatability problems with my motherboard and the pci card...

thinking about buying a mk 3 which comes with a 424 card - will i be able to hook up both interfaces?

thanks!

Yes. I've successfully run a MKII, a MKII and and original 2408 all off my 424 at the same time.

Yes, you can run a mk2 and mk3 on the same 424 card. Just keep in mind that you can only use the highest comon sample rate -- in this case, 48 kHz. If you want to use 88.2 or 96, switch off your 2408mk2.

`
Of course, you can't run a MkIII off a 324 card.

I tried using a Mk2 with an Mk3 as my primary controller - I just wanted an additional 8 channels of A/D, but the only way I could get the Mk2 to work simultaneously was to use it with the optical ADAT connection. When plugged straight into the 424 card it would come up on the software, but no sound coming in from that interface would come out of the mains. I was connecting preamps in and had it connected to the 424 card, but no audio out. Do I need to run the audio out from the Mk2 rather than assuming that its incoming audio will be automatically routed through the Mk3 outputs?
