Why does MOTU 24I keep changing from 48 back to 44.1 ?
I have 5 servers on windows 2000 server and three of them will randomly change the MOTU settings from 48000 back to 44.1. I have installed new 424 cards from the 324 cards and it still does it. I also have 2-24I's on each server that are changing at the same time????? Please Help!!!

Do you have anything plugged in to an SPDIF port? MOTU devices will automatically sync to that.Techman wrote:I have 5 servers on windows 2000 server and three of them will randomly change the MOTU settings from 48000 back to 44.1. Me too
I am having the same issue.
We have replaced the 424 cards. We have replaced the 24I/O's and we are still having the same issue!
We are Running server 2000 also.
The problem seems to getting worse in the last few weeks.
We do not have any of the Motu's plugged into the SPDIF ports.
thank you for your time.

Outside of windows sounds, anything that plays a sound in Windows will change the samplerate. A program that has a sound at startup, messenger services, flash, iTunes, Media Player; any of it will reset the sample rate.
Hard to say without knowing exactly how these servers are set up and what they are doing.

Hey Techman
What do you use the 24I/o's to record?
It sounds like we are running into a similar issue.

Well...we have solved 2 Servers and it was GoToMyPc (The customers choice) even though the sounds were disabled each time you try and use it the Motu's would revert to 44.1 GoToMyPc had to be installed on a workstation and on another server we will have to install a virtual sound driver on the werver to force this not to happen. We still have a few servers with the issue not resolved yet.

It's doing it's job...
I have the 896HD and it changes sample rate based on what the application request as far as I know.
I use Cubase Studio 4, Wavelab essentials and ableton live 6. The switching is not a problem to me, it's a function. If I set a project to 44.1, 48, or 96 the MOTU switches to the required setting to play the audio.
I do have an ultramatchpro (behringer) for converting analog to digital for input to the AES/EBU on the 896HD and if I don't sync it to the MOTU via word clock I get noise due to being out of sync until I manually switch the sample rate on the behringer.
All that to say the sample rate change is proper functionality not a glitch.
