ULTRALITE FIRMWARE 1.15
MOTU has released a new update for the firmware of the UltraLite which is recommended for all UltraLite users.
This can be found at www.motu.com on the Downloads page under the Firewire Software link.
Hopefully this should fix the 1.10 volume jumping issues!

first let me note that i did not ever try the 1.1.0 UltraLite firmware update.
that said - 1.1.5 update is "so far, so good"
i updated on Mar. 9
- ran the update program
- successfully completed firmware update
- powercycled UltraLite, shows 1.1.5 system
- loaded small project in Live 6.0.5 (6 software instruments tracks with various fx plugins on each track)
- it has been playing looped clips for about 45 minutes now, no problems i can hear
- i've adjusted the Main Volume from time to time, from all the way down to all up and back again - no problems that i can hear
my system: MacBookPro 2.33 C2D 17", OSX10.4.8, Audio Desk 2, Live 6.0.5, audio out of Main Outputs from UltraLite
also, i realized that i had not yet installed the MOTU Audio 1.4.3 yet, so i installed that, loaded the same project in Live - worked fine. adjusted volume up and down, no probs. i also plugged my headphones into the main analog outs of UltraLite to listen for any low-level clicks or pops - i heard only the music, and when playback was stopped, heard only silence. also played iTunes throught the UltraLite, worked fine.

good news so far...
has anyone who DID try the 1.10 update (and had the random volume problems) tried the new update yet? please post if you've updated to 1.15 and let us know...
I think most of us who experienced the previous problem are hesitant to try again!
I may just do it, as I can easily backgrade again if all goes south again...
maybe this weekend...

Ultralite&IntelMac
I had some serious problems with my Imac (2.16 GHz Intel coere 2 duo) and Ultralite. Bad static noises and sudden program errors. Yesterday I installed the updated (Date: 2007/02/14) MOTU Universal Audio Install and the 1.1.5 Firmware. It seems to work perfectly now... so far..

Firmware
I just updated my firmware to 1.1.5 and it has fried my Ultralite. It turns on gets as far as changing sample rate then turns off. It will turn back on with a blank screen then it wont turn off. I was working fine before. Now MOTU want me to pay $80 to send it back to them when it was their upgrade that fried it... Anybody have any ideas, I have re installed the update 3 times now and it takes it succesfully but then doesnt work.

Installed it and everything working fine, just like with the previous firmware!

Not the same story when upgrading to OSX 10.4.9: Guitar Rig 2 doesn't work anymore. Avoid 10.4.9 if possible! There's a change on the AU system and some plugs doesn't run.

1.1.5 Upgrade Fails on Mac Pro
I can't upgrade from 1.0 to 1.15 on my Ultralite from my Mac Pro (4GB Intel OS X 10.4). I place the Ultralite in firmware-upgrade mode. I start the OS X "UltraLite Uploader 1.15.app." I get the window "Press button below to update..." I press the Update Firmware button. Nothing happens. The application just terminates. The Ultralight display just sits there in Firmware Upgrade mode. Any ideas?
