Ultralite Audio Quality

Hi all,

This is my first time posting here. I've been using an Ultralite for a few months now and I'm wondering what people think of the audio quality? Personally Im not very happy with mine. Maybe its faulty? I upgraded from an M-Audio FW 410 last year. The Ultralite was alot more expensive compared to the 410 and I expected better quality from it. I have, however, gone back and tested both cards against each other by recording the same audio with both cards. The recorded audio quality with the 410 is far better than that from the Ultralite. A fitting comparison is the quality you would find between a wav and an mp3 in terms of quality. The Ultralite seems to record alot of high end hiss/warble that might not bother everyone but it makes most audio recorded with it unusable as part of a professional recording. I find it quite frustrating as I really like the Ultralite otherwise. Its very reliable and stable (except for issues with the recent firmware upgrade) otherwise which is something i could never say about anything M-Audio make as their stuff seems to crash constantly. I also like the Motu software interface and the quality of audio playback is excellent. The problem only seems to be with audio recorded into the program. I am using my Ultralite with a Macbook Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz with 2GB and recording using Ableton Live. Please leave feedback as to what you all think.

That doesn't sound right. I have both and the Ultralite is way better than the 410, in both sound quality going in&out as well as drivers. Better double check some things make sure the unit isnt faulty.

I have an Ultralite and I have never been disappointed about the recording quality... It does what I expected it to do...
I have used it alot and gets pretty good results every time.
It isn't the most professional interface on the market but it does what I expect from it.

(but maby it is my ears thats bad and doesn't hear a difference)

I have a MOTU 424 which pumps out level via optical like you would not believe. I recently got an M Audio 410 which I am using to DJ with using my macbook pro and LIVE and the analogue level which it puts out is about half of what my MOTU kicks out, why would this be ?
