896 trouble

Post by zywot66 »

hello: sorry for any rookie stuff a head of time.

i am running an old 896 on a sony vio, 3gig processer, 1 gig ram with nuendo. my problem is between audio desk, witch looks nothing like the pictures i see of it, and nuendo not alowing me to reset my sample rate. i mean i can physicly change the sample rate in audio desk, but when i open up nuendo it flip flops the sample rate back and forth between the newly selected sample rate and the previuosly, always the same, sample rate.
i always end up forceing nuenmdo to shut down. it wont stop flip flopping till i do. what gives? i caant open anything in nuendo because its always busy flipping and telling me it changed.

You shouldn't need to run audiodesk at all - if you are using Nuendo as your primary DAW. Those are two different software platforms which will compete if they are running at the same time. All you need to set up your 896 is the MOTU FireWire Audio console - this is the software interface for the 896 that comes as part of its drivers. You may need to select the MOTU software as your primary ASIO driver (under "device setup" in Nuendo) if you haven't done so. You need to do this in order for the 896 to show up in Nuendo as an interface option. You can then select whatever sample rate options within each projet that you want in Nuendo (up to 24/96), and the 896 should accept them.
