Easy audio editing and other DSP functions - can't get on with the DP editor having used Peak - why would I want to change?

But that's my actual question;
What audio editing can't you do in DP that you can in PEAK?

No idea - I find Peak easier - I daresay you can do it all in DP - I have never ventured much further than the initial look - as I am so used to Peak - but you can probably do a lot of the actual editing in DP, but there are different functions that Peak has - it is a pro package after all. Sorry - can't help you much other than to praise Peak....

peak's sample rate converter is top notch and way better. it's dithering is better than waves even. peak's tools are and dsp functions are quicker and flow better than dp. you can drive a formula 1 around a race track or a tractor. both do the same thing and get the job done but cmon!

I've been using Peak LE side by side with DP and Live for the past 4 yrs. I find audio editing in DP's audio editor to be cumbersome. I use peak for all of my mono and stereo editing needs, which is usually trimming tails, making samples with looped sections, dithering with Ozone3, etc.
However, I have found great joy in editing audio in DP in the sequence editor and have become quite good at it. Editing takes together (including takes of drums across 6+ tracks), creating backwards swells, etc. I could honestly do 90% of my audio editing in digital performer's sequence editor now. I love working in there.
Look at Peak vs. Peak LE on the Bias website. I edit audio every day in Peak LE 4 and 5 and have never felt the need to invest in Peak Pro. my needs simply don't justify it at this point. If you have Ozone3 I'm sure that you'll find the limit of one AU or VST plug-in at a time in Peak LE to no longer be a problem.

I spend many hours chopping up long modular synth improvs, drum tracks, etc into loops. Most of them I Recycle and make Rex loops to import to Stylus RMX with the Sage Converter Dealie.
I like Peak's chop 'em up, loop 'em up workflow for that kind of stuff and find it a little quicker and more efficient than DP even though it could all be done in DP for sure.
Having said that, I edit audio all day in DP for my bread and butter work so they both definitely have their place. Different animals entirely in some ways, in others they overlap.
IOW they're trapezoidally inversely proportional (logrythmically speaking).

I agree about editing audio in the Sequence editor - a real joy (much like it was in Vision DSP) - in some ways matching up edit points is easier in the sequence editor as it is easier to ensure waveforms blend together and don't click - but generally Peak is great and I don't bother with the DP audio editor - but love the Sequence editor.

well i dont have peak pro...but i do have peak express. i use it just for 2 functions. 2 simple simple simple little things. first, is to normalize my track. dp has a normalize button but i can never get it to highlight(its always shadowed). Second to trim off the tail of muh bounced tracks. ima trimmin muh tails. my tails ima trimmin'em.
