Crashing at about Bar 10...

Hey All,

Its been a while but DP 4.61 has been quite steady for me for a long time and now for no reason its crapping itself in a certain project. The project was running ok on my laptop a PB1.67 and now on the Dual 1.25 with 2GB Ram its falling over. I noticed it yesterday when I went to recording in through my 2408MkIII it just wouldn't receive any audio signal no matter how I routed it. So I've downloaded the latest PCI424 update, have repaired permissions, trashed preferences, updated everything I can and its still crashing it. The project is Running Korg Legacy, 2 Instances of Batter V2, and Reaon Rewired, I've also downloaded the latest Rewire Update, can anyone shed any light? Much thanks....

Hey, Adam.

Have you tried copying the project?
How about loading its chunks into a new template?

Failing the aforementioned, I'd try rebuilding/loading (DP 5.x-> only) the project's audio bundles.
Should you still be in strife, I'd re-install again (sorry), but forego all unnecessary 3rd party installations.

Should this bear no fruit, I'd go buy a banana; they're cheap in Hellbin at the moment.
Hope there's something for you here. If not, the Geeksters ought to arrive shortly. :D
Just don't let Frodo talk you into buying any more RAM without drilling him first.

Thanks for that Monkey Man. Yeah I copied the sequence into a cliping window, then rebuilt the project again from the ground up, fortunately it was mainly MIDI data at that stage. Then as I was going through loading the VIs one by one I noticed something. I'm running two instances of Battery V2.1.5 and the problem is with one of the kits, I'm running the Reggae kit and the Hip Hop kit and everytime I try and run the Hip Hop kit it just falls over. But with just the Reggae kit up its runs fine. I've sent a support request off to Native Instruments so we'll see what they say. Most of the drum programming is with this kit so I loathe to change it at this point...

Hey, at least you've still got the project, Adam, or should I call you "man"?

Great news; I'm happy for ya.

Enjoy the warm weather.

Speaking of freezing--

I wonder if Adam is at the point in his projects where he could freeze up some tracks?

I understand the love for DP 4.61, but DP 5.x has Work Quanta and Max Work Percent which can help divert additional resources from other functions to MAS. Giving one or the other of these a nudge has really come in handy.

But that it worked fine on the PB and not on the tower-- hmmm...

Two things--

1. try disabling the PCI 424 and run the project using Built-In Audio

2. try uninstalling and reinstalling DP, perhaps under a new user name. Anything related to DP located in your user Library can be moved to your root Library

They promise so much, but can they deliver?
For your sake Jari, I hope not.

Don't fret, Dwet; just try not to get wet.
Poor bugger, I feel for ya, and it's mighty chilly.

If you need to get that one kit down, how about a bounce to disc in a separate project file, then import the audio?

This may have already been covered, but I would also check to see what happens @ bar 10 right before the crash. Sometimes an event like a plug in kicking in, too much automation, AutoTune 4.39 MAS... etc can cause it....
