On behalf of MOTU:

Thank you Digidesign, for showing us your hand.
If MOTU covers even some of this ground...

Extra tweaks and slight delay (more) on MachV now?
Everybody's cards are on the table. Except MOTU's.

I like. :D

Mac 2012 12C Cheese Grater, OSX 10.13.6
MOTU DP8.07, MachFive 3.2.1, MIDI Express XT, 24I/O

MOTU won't even acknowledge that there is a table. But if they ever play a hand, the new cards will be free if you're already in the game. Unless thay decide to play a different game. Except they're not saying.

I've used Yellow Tool's INDEPENDENCE, and really liked it. liked MachFive better, but since Motu has ...well.... ignored its paying customers, I can recommend INDEPENDENCE. Works great with DP. And its Universal Binary this month! Yipee!

Guess that's really keeping one's cards close to one's chest.

That's how MOTU likes to play, and they don't change their game.

Their lit. says, "Developed .... specifically for Pro Tools®, Structure•„• is a powerful RTAS® virtual instrument plug-in", so I guess it will be a ProTools only Vi, at least for the time being.

Yeah, it is only for Pro Tools - the Advanced Instrument Research Group (AIR) is what has become of the famous sample libraries/plug-in makers Wizoo, who were bought by Digidesign (Pro Tools' maker) a while ago. RTAS is Pro Tools' host-based proprietary plug-in architecture and AIR haven't made any of their other plug-ins available in any other format - not even stand-alone operation.

MachFive is great in Pro Tools, except that on PC (only) it doesn't give multiple outs. Any upgrade to do that, v2 or not, would make my day, to be honest. I wonder if Structure has multi-outs - oh yes, it does...

The AIR story reminds me of a thought that always makes me smile...

Wouldn't it be sweet justice if Microsoft bought Digidesign?
Of course, some inter-galactic company would have to step in and buy Microsoft too if complete justice were to be done. :D

Being able to drag from PT session right into the sampler.....
Sells me right there.

The crap I've had to deal with trying to get stuff from ProTools into Mach 5 has been ridiculous. Every other program on the mac supports drag and drop. Why do I have to go to the finder to import my sounds into Mach 5

RE: Card Holding.

MOTU better show something.
Otherwise my $$$ is going to start going elsewhere

technomorph - I hear you, but in DP you can drag and drop a soundbite directly into Mach5

I think the "in DP" bit is the important issue there... I've not found a way to do it in PT yet to be honest. Hooray for universality!
