TAX ORGANIZER SOFTWARE for overwhelmed musician?

Post by pilotone »

Do anyone know of a good tax organizing software (not to file tax returns, but to prepare the data FOR the tax preparer) that runs on Mac? I am a freelance musician, on some payrolls, but more often, freelance assignments here and there. Many income sources and many many taxable expenses and deductions. I thought Quicken (the Home & Business) version would be good, but there's no Mac version. BUT....don't Macs now have the ability to run Windows programs?? Doesn't say so on the Quicken box. And TurboTax (Home & Business, Schedule C) does run on both Mac and pc, but it files the return and goes way beyond my needs. I just need a user-friendly (and Mac-friendly!) program that can help me categorize, etc. I'm way behind on my taxes and need to get it all done quickly. What do you guys do with preparation? Any recommendations?? Thanks so much!

You'd have to buy a new Intel Mac to get PC compatibility.

I run my personal data as well as my publishing company, investments, credit cards, bank accounts, cash flow, foreign and domestic royalties, etc. thru Quicken for Mac so I don't know where you got your info.

Yes, there are various versions of Quicken for PC and only one Mac version, but the Mac version is fantastic. I just upgraded to Quicken 2007 a few days ago and is it rock solid. I use the program EXACTLY as you intend, to prepare data for my accountant. A few minutes a day and at the end of the tax year, ask for a report. Everything in categories I set of choose. It has NEVER failed me once. Even does inventory of assets (piano, Mac, etc.)

For under $100 you can download the program (for as long as three years if necessary!) and start working TONIGHT!

BTW, it has many online features that allow access to financial institutions, even updates stock quotes for your Mutual funds. Dude, it is THE program for your business.
