Hi,
I've had a MOTU 896HD for about 3 years. I ran the main XLR outs to 2 channels of a mixer. I recently got a new mixer, a Mackie 1202. I set it up the same way and it worked fine. Yesterday I was moving some equipment around (not the 896) and unplugged the XLR cables. When I plugged them back in the sound was fuzzy without much volume and a there was a noticable hum. I've tried other cables, checked the inputs, etc. and everything - except the 896 outputs - is OK.
I can't believe the outputs went bad just by being unplugged and plugged in again. I've probably only unplugged them 5 times total before last night.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dave

Re: 896 XLR out problem
Happened to me, too. DONT RUN THE OUTPUTS OF YOUR 896 OR 896HD INTO
THE INPUTS ON A MIXER WITH PHANTOM POWER ON. MOTU should really put this in the manual.
