Help with Giga UVI probs

Post by daddyunicorn »

Ok so I bought the Garritan Orchestral Strings 20 CD library. I spent coutless hours with UVI converting each and every of the 20 CD's. It gave me sound bank (M5b) 20 of them. Ok so, I lost alot of subtle sounds now that it was mach 5. Whatever, that pisses me off.
But I went ahead and copied the Sound Banks onto a few DVD's as my back up. Keep in mind I did all of this about 2 years ago, and I don't recall if it was old Mach 5 or the 1.2 version. Other CD's I converted (not GOS) seem to work fine.
So now I am loading the GOS via DVD onto my LapTop, I just copy the M5b right into the Sounds folder, and some work, and some come back with an error saying could not copy ______ and stops copying. I know what it is, it is because the freaking file names for the .wav files are like way too long with symbols etc....
So how do I get this to work?? Should UVI compensated for these absurdly long file names?? Or maybe is it something on my LapTop,. like a setting??
IDEAS please??? Yes I could just use the CD's and do UVI again from my Laptop, but that would take me about 10 hours.
