MacBook will not wake up?

Post by melonhead »

My MacBook has trouble sometimes waking up. If I leave it on my desk overnight the next morning it will not wake up and go to work. Its not all the time just some of the time. Anyone else with this problem?

That could be a sign of HW problems...but it often is also a power management issue. Reset the SMC (system management controller).

On a MacBook or MacBook Pro:
1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
2. Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.
3. Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
4. Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
5. Press the Power button to restart the computer.

If you still have issues after this you may have a logic board issue and should contact Apple.

Ok I will try that first but like you said if it does keep on I will contact Apple. Thanks for the tip.

I sometimes have problems if I the configuration changed while it is sleeping. If I disconnect my second screen while it is sleeping I'll usually have problem waking it up. So I try to disconnect everything before I put it to sleep.(That's if I know that I'll take it somewhere else before waking it up of course...)
