My Bedroom Setup - Problem!! (not spam)

Post by arkay »

Hey guys,

I'm really rubbish at patching and rewiring so I require some assistance.

My equipment list is:

Mackie 1402 Mixer (14 channels)
MOTU 828 MkII Interface
Decks With Mixer

Below is how I've set this up.

Image

I've connected the:

MOTU 828 MkII To Mac via Firewire.

Monitors To Control Room INS - This allows me to adjust volume via the control room, master and channel 13-14 faders. All of these faders have to be up for me to hear anything. This has to be wrong!

MOTU 1/2 Main OUTS To Line 13/14 INS of Mackie - This allows me to listen to anything that comes out of my mac into my Mackie.

Decks with 2 channel mixer To MOTU 5/6 INS - This allows me to record straight into the mac as opposed to go via the mixer first.

Aux Sends of Mackie 1/2 To MOTU 3/4 INS -This allows me to record thru the Mackie by adjusting the sends on the appropriate channel.

These arer the only connections I've made. Everything else is left untouched.

Please do not tell me to read the maual. I have! I still don't get it.

My question:

1. How do I repatch this setup so I can turn the volume down via the control room fader (not all 3 faders, control, master and Lines 13/14) and still be able to listen to my headphones via a dedicated fader?

It looks like your main outs are going to the outs of your 828, they should go to an input. You could use the main outs as monitors and aux or sends to your 828. I will have to look up your mixer and then I could tell you.
It looks like you have a DJ set up, you wish to bring in a mic? What do you want to do with you set up?

Hi... I'm on my daily sweep for bogus "bot" spamming posts. I'm changed your subject header for you as I had to check this thread out because "bedroom" and "problem" in the same subject header... well there's a potential spam post for me. :-) Any way... back to work for me... deleting more of these spammer posts.
